Naming Guidelines
Hey everyone! Here are a few guidelines that, for the most part, should be followed when naming your characters. It is strongly advised that you read through this before creating a character, just so it is clear how names work. If you have any questions about particular names, do not hesitate to pm a staff member!
Prefixes are given to a cat at birth, and should describe the pelt or the size of the kit so that others may recognize them. While fire-, for example, is fine for a ginger colored cat, the same prefix doesn't work for a solid black cat. Tiny- would work for an abnormally small kit, regardless of color. Kits cannot be named for their eye color, since all kits have blue eyes until a couple of months into their life.
Animal and bird names are usually fine as long as the animal and the cat share a similar coloration (Sheep- would be fine for a solid white or black cat, as sheep come in those colors) They should be animals that the cats could conceivably know of, however; the cats don't know what orcas are, so Orca- would not be an acceptable prefix.
With regards to suffixes, the suffix should describe either the personality, skillset, or a physical feature of the cat. -Heart, for example, usually indicates a kind or moral character, whereas -foot may indicate a swift one.
With suffixes we are rather lenient, and if you can justify the use of -breeze, -strike, and other suffixes, then you are free to use them. Just try to be specific about what they describe, please.
