Main Plot
What have we done?
It is many moons after the four clans first moved to the lake territories, and the original forest territories are mere myths the elders tell to kits. The clans have endured many trials since that time, but they prevailed over each one.
Eventually, the twolegs that lived near the lake stopped coming. The various twolegplaces in RiverClan and ShadowClan fell apart, as well as the horseplace that bordered WindClan territory. All that remains of those landmarks now are a few scattered, rotting boards.
But despite the absence of the twolegs, all has not been peaceful between the clans. Skirmishes along the borders are more common than ever, and every clan is determined to show just how strong they are. Arguments between opposing patrols is a near daily occurrence.
In the midst of this slow-growing turmoil, a storm swept over the territories. The rivers flooded, the lake rose to previously unheard of levels. Trees were struck by lightning and toppled; leaves were ripped off of their branches by the wind. It was the worst storm in the history of the clans.
Somehow they managed to survive, but not without sustaining heavy losses. Each clan now faces their own challenges.
Traditionally, ThunderClan had been the strongest of the four clans, followed closely by ShadowClan. Now it is WindClan that holds the advantage, as the rolling hills protected them from much of the flooding. Furthermore, the rocks that used to be located on WindClan's territory have slid down the hills to where the old horseplace once stood. Taking it as a sign to expand their territory, patrols have been sent to scout out the new bit of territory.
RiverClan sustained the heaviest losses, as the flooded river swept away almost their entire camp. Their focus is on rebuilding their camp, but they have also set their sights on the new territory to the east, where the WindClan stones have landed. They need the land to set up a temporary camp to keep their members dry and safe while their territory continues to drain.
In the piney forest, ShadowClan's consequences were not immediate. They lost a handful of cats to the flooding, but were able to rebuild with relative ease. Now, however, infection and sickness are starting to set in, and the only causes that can be found is the still soaked land and the sudden increase in mosquitoes. To make matters worse, many of the herbs in ShadowClan's territory were killed during the flood.
Finally, ThunderClan's losses consisted mostly of their younger members, many kits and a few apprentices here and there. Their camp, an abandonded twoleg quarry, is not in shambles like the others. However, much of their prey fled or drowned in the storm and have yet to return, so prey is extraordinarily scarce.
But instead of banding together during these hard times, the tensions only grew. Rumors flew through the clans, of ThunderClan stealing prey from WindClan, of RiverClan encroaching on their borders, of ShadowClan snatching herbs and infecting others, and many more. No one knows if these rumors are true, but each will do anything to defend their own clan.
And for the first time in a long time, StarClan is silent.
